About Vantive Foundation

The Vantive Foundation is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation which promotes philanthropic causes with funding, sponsorship and motivated resources. We are passionate about pursuing and succeeding in philanthropic endeavors which leave the world a better place.

We focus our grants and community involvement in areas where we are passionate and can make unique, positive and sustained contributions. These areas include preservation of our natural oceans, marine ecosystems and marine wildlife with a particular emphasis on cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises). We also dedicate ourselves to enhancing the communities where we live and work.

The Vantive Foundation operates an integrated philanthropy model based on four cornerstones.

  • Giving. Vantive fund raises and invests in non-profit organizations which support the continuation, replication or extension of programs that have been proven successful in advancing humanitarian areas within our philanthropic focus. Our grant making philosophy is to build, strengthen and sustain institutions and their core capabilities, rather than just be a source for narrowly defined projects. As such, we seek thoughtful, long-term collaborations with grant recipients and target our investment funds to partners with clear purpose, proven records, forecastable results and not for profit status. Within each of its core programs, the Foundation concentrates most of its grant making in a few areas. Institutions and programs receiving support are often leaders in fields of Foundation activity, but they may also be promising newcomers, or in a position to demonstrate new ways of overcoming obstacles to achieve program goals. To provide assurance that our donations are made to the most credible and noble causes, we seek out charitable causes based on their substantive history and proven successes and do not accept unsolicited requests for funding.

  • Partnerships. Our giving extends beyond grant making. We partner with like minded organizations to build stronger communities and achieve synergistic results. Vantive drives global change by investing in, collaborating with, and promoting leaders, entrepreneurs, innovators, advocates, foundations and social communities dedicated to solving the world’s most pressing problems. Vantive solicits leaders and key contributors from business, academia, government and not-for-profit to participate and partner in philanthropic causes. We believe there is profound interdependency between businesses and the communities in which they operate. Whether promoting corporate giving or harvesting the creative ideas of business visionaries, integrating business leaders with our philanthropic causes creates a symbiotic effect capable of profound change. We've learned that by bringing together complimentary resources – grants, leaders, volunteers, sponsorships and other contributing influencers – we extend our ability to make a difference, while helping our nonprofit partners increase the impact of their good work.

  • Activism. Vantive and several of its strategic contributors are passionate and loyal activists for the causes we hold dear. Vantive strategic contributors such as Juniper Media provide all staff five days paid time off per year to engage in program efforts and events. Vantive contributors also provide expert talent and core competencies in media promotion and visibility programs to raise awareness and solicit global community participation for charitable causes. To empower and engage global communities and forums, Vantive sponsors social networks and communities which promote boundless collaboration, the exchange of ideas, information, resources, lessons learned and best practices.

  • Research & Education. Because the causes which we champion are complex and dynamic, Vantive sponsors, conducts or co-participates in research and education projects in order to discover conservation related causes, patterns, factors, trends or root cause analysis. For example, we participate in long-term monitoring of distribution, abundance and habitat use of the cetaceans (whales, dolphins and porpoises) and marine mammals. The aim of this monitoring work is to provide those who manage marine wildlife and habitats with information they need to achieve effective conservation. This monitoring work also provides the materials for our work in environmental education, helping to raise public awareness and activism about marine wildlife. We firmly believe that by educating the public about the marine environment we are advancing our pursuit to safeguard marine biodiversity. From disciplined research we can also apply our learning to situational analysis, current thinking and insight for the actions used to accomplish other conservation program objectives.
